Comes The Antistate

Turning and turning in the widening gyre

With the Arab world and especially "the Palestinians", what has come to be called the "international community" has always favoured the men of action over the nation builders.

Terror, random murder, hate mongering, incitement,  hostage taking, extortion, blackmail  ... these have their own rewards in the Middle East and are encouraged by the truth that they work, especially when deployed against Israel and the West.

What's more, these tactics can achieve much at little cost.

Hezbollah comprehensively proved that all those years ago in Lebanon when it forced the evacuation of US Marines and French troops, there to intervene in a civil war that then had not long flared, to restore the peace. Hezbollah managed this world changing victory with the loss of a couple of commandeered vehicles, a big bunch of explosives and a few dead martyrs.

From their standpoint, free. No loss at all.

These resources are in abundance. They flow in the streets and drop from the trees. The wells will always be at capacity no matter how much is drawn. Lives in particular are easy to replace. The death rate in Gaza is among the lowest in the world, the birth rate perhaps the highest and half the population is under fourteen.

This equilibrium, this dynamic state of long term terrorism is "sustainable" by the most exacting standards, even of the Hemp Bag and Bollinger wing of the Australian Greens.

So they kept on doing it, other learned, did it too and do it still sometimes on a grand scale.

This is a death cult. At any time but especially right now an Arab child in Gaza has much more value as a photogenic corpse than alive, if her death can be linked to the Jews, because of the impact in the "street" and on the "international community". The result of this is there to see.

They keep on doing it even if they have to stage it.

Now the UN and the "international community" are hand wringing and urging"the parties to stop fighting and start talking".  Ban Ki-moon used those words. Hamas is rewarded by recognition and an implied place at the table and is duly strengthened.

It's called behaviour reinforcement.

A perverted culture of victim hood, of eternal suffering and injustice beyond measure and so chronic that it gathers strength with the passing of the generations and brings forth and defines a new nation and a new kind of nation.

Palestine is a nation that grieves and fights for its own state. But it is a new kind of nation, the first, and its national struggle is for a new kind of state. A state that has at the core of the purpose for its constitution the destruction and supersession of another state.

"Palestine" is not a state. It can never exist until Israel ceases to.  It is more accurately an antistate. The first in all of history.

If that sounds like an abomination then perhaps it is. This report is about how the army of an antistate fights its war for national liberation. The army of "Palestine" uses these tactics because they work. Try to keep in mind these kids are those of the fighters.

We have to say this is something new. Another threshold is crossed. There is nothing that compares to this.

Soldier: Terrorists Charged with Babies in Hand

Shocking testimony from hospitalized soldiers reveals extent of Hamas’ use of children as human shields.

Wounded soldiers have given shocking testimony regarding Hamas’ use of young children as human shields.

Parents of wounded soldiers spoke to Kol Yisrael on Tuesday and shared some of the disturbing stories they had heard from their sons. They said soldiers have repeatedly seen young children in Sheijaya, Gaza, be sent out into the streets with guns to try to attack IDF troops.

One parent reported that terrorists had run at IDF soldiers with a gun in one hand and a baby in the other, apparently in hopes that the soldiers would see the child and hold their fire. If soldiers fired, the parent added, the child’s death could be used as propaganda against Israel.

“They’re continuing the same trick of using children as human shields, just as they did in Operation Cast Lead,” one father said. Women are used as human shields as well, he added.

He expressed frustration at figures on the Israeli far-left who have accused IDF soldiers of committing war crimes. Israel’s soldiers do everything they can to avoid hurting innocent people, he said.

The parents’ testimony joins previous evidence of similar crimes, including reports from UNRWA that a school building was used to store rockets, and a video showing terrorists using an ambulance to escape the site of an attack.

Hamas has openly boasted about the "success" of its strategy of using civilians as human shields during Operation Protective Edge.

  1. Geoff, this is a core point:

"'Palestine' is not a state. It can never exist until Israel ceases to. It is more accurately an antistate. The first in all of history."

There are people who think that I never critize Israel. This is untrue.

One of my primary criticisms of Israel was in its recognition of a distinct Arab "Palestinian" ethnicity. This is perhaps the single most eggregious and counterproductive mistake that the Israelis ever made.

After the Six Day War the Israeli leadership should have maintained a dialogue with the Arab states - to the extent that they would agree to discussions with the hated Jews - but never some stateless terrorist organization claiming to represent a brand-spanking new ethnicity.

This is particularly true given the fact that this brand-spanking new ethnicity only came into existence toward the end of the twentieth-century for the purpose of the larger Arab-Muslim project of robbing Jews of sovereignty and self-defense on historically Jewish land... and for religious reasons, no less.

It was a dumb mistake and not only are Jews still living with the sad consequences, but so are the local Arabs who are now trapped into some anti-Jewish Culture of Death provided to them by their heinous and cowardly Islamist leadership.

In any case, Hamas needs to go away and we very much need to stand behind Israel in this moment of war, as I know that you do.

But if this suffering is to mean anything, it must mean the end of Hamas.

If it does not mean that, it does not mean much.

    {I would not bet on it, tho.}

    1. The situation also involved the growth at the UN of many new states and the nonaligned movement. These helped create the environment, assisted by the Soviets and Arabs, to force the PLO onto the world stage, even as it was clearly terrorist.

One should also consider the Israeli desire to make peace and to find a partner, and excuse it for trying and failing.

Hamas is turning itself into ISIS and Boko Haram, not caring at all about the people. Ironically, a lot like many "pro-Palestinian" advocates that seem to spend all their time heaping hatred on Israel and too often on Jews.

  2. A few amendments for typos and a link to Aretz Sheva 7 for the report on Hamas fighters holding babies and women while in fire fights with the IDF.

I linked this post at Catallaxy Files, a prominent centre right site using the catch line

"If this is not a clash of civilisations, what is it?"

Australian conservatives are very solid on Israel, these days. Like the Canadians I guess.

The Australian PM and ( in my opinion, an outstanding guy--- likely to be among the few best PM's since the war) and Harper of Canada have bonded like political soul mates as I expected.I think they know that this is about much more than making moral judgements on competing claims and coming down on the side of Israel because Israel is in the right.

There is no question that this little country is right at the front line . I'm pretty certain conservatives and the political centre can be persuaded to see that this fight is their fight and to stand with Israel is not only the right thing but just common sense and basic self defence.
